LUCA School of Arts:
Grafische Studio 3: Visual Design Bachelor
Date: 18.01.22
Details: Open(the)Space Book with @ronald.geraltovskiy
Book assignment about the artist David Hammons, and target audience ‘futurists’
The American artist David Hammons is known for calling out and exposing the stereotypes surrounding the black community in the US. This subject is very important in today’s society and we wanted to know more about this from creatives and artists of color from or currently working in Belgium.
Open(the)Space is a virtual gallery and book inspired by David Hammons’ ideology and idea’s. He hates the phrase: going to an exhibition, it makes you forget and miss the art all around you… on the street and in the real world. People are too busy thinking about what they will see in a gallery, that they missed everything in the real world or environment.
We made it so that the owner of the book receives a code to gain access to the online exhibition. This gallery can be shown through VR glasses. It features a selection of works by David Hammons, and alongside these we also show the works of the Belgian creatives and artists that we interviewed.
